The Institute for Security Studies (ISS) and the North-South Institute (NSI) in Canada are collaborating to more effectively influence policy debates on sustainable development. Over the next three years, ISS and NSI will partner on important issues related to international development such as governance of natural resources in Africa, gender, state fragility and security sector reform. Innovative solutions for sound, effective research will also be jointly developed.
The NSI’s mission is to conduct research that will assist policy makers in developing and implementing more effective aid and development policies to reduce poverty and global inequalities, and contribute to a more prosperous and stable global community. This aligns with the independent and authoritative research that ISS undertakes in order to provide informed policy analysis and advice on human security in Africa. Through an exchange of knowledge, resources and best practices this new partnership will encourage innovative ways of working and greater capacity in both institutions.
