Just over a year ago, the UN’s ambitious Sustainable Development Goals were agreed on as the way to help improve the lives of people around the world. But what are the views of people in key countries in Africa towards development? And are the SDGs likely to make a difference?

This seminar will present results from a new survey of public perceptions in South Africa, Nigeria and Kenya run by the Pew Research Center. Findings reveal that many Africans express concern about key development issues like the national economy and especially corruption. On the positive side, people are optimistic about health care and education.

The Pew study also covers perceptions of job availability, inequality, models for development, priorities for the government and civic participation.
