SEMINAR: HUMAN TRAFFICKING
INTERNATIONAL AND LOCAL PERSPECTIVES ON THE PROBLEM AND ITS SOLUTION
Tuesday, 11 May 2004
ÂÂ
Presented by the TRAINING FOR PEACE PROGRAMME
ÂÂ
ÂÂ
As a feature of transnational organised crime,
the problem of human trafficking is a serious and growing one that requires
transnational solutions involving both government and non-government organisations.
The UN Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, especially
Women and Children, is an important step forward. The seminar will provide
perspectives on the problem, both globally and in South Africa, as well as
review the international approaches to trafficking.
