Register Online: ISS Seminar: The Chadian Political Crisis: Opportunities and Challenges for Peace
26 February 2008, Addis Ababa

The Direct Conflict Prevention Programme (DCP) of the Institute for Security Studies (ISS) – Addis Ababa Office would like to cordially invite you to a public seminar entitled: The Chadian Political Crisis: Opportunities and Challenges for Peace. Since independence, Chad has not known any constitutional transfer of power. The latest round of conflict, an assault on N’Djamena comes as no surprise considering since independence the country has tethered from one conflict to another.

This seminar seeks to analyze the Chadian crisis; examine its causes; what is at stake? Who are the main players and their interest? In doing so, the seminar intends to examine some policy options and consideration in managing and resolving the conflict.

The ISS Public Seminar Series is part of the DCP effort at promoting frank exchange of views by providing a platform for sharing information, encouraging policy debates and dialogue on the African peace and security agenda in Addis Ababa. These seminars typically strive to stimulate informed discussions and constructive interaction between participants. To allow for construction interaction, presentations are merely introductory remarks.

The panelists will include: Prof Gérard Prunier, international consultant on Eastern and Central Africa, Chrysantus Ayangafac, Senior Researcher ISS Addis Ababa Office.
