The training hosted under the initiative of EAPCCO and ISS, will bring together law enforcement officers from eight Eastern African countries. The countries are Burundi, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Seychelles, Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda. The regional approach has been informed by the trans-boundary nature of environmental crime, which therefore calls for a regional approach so as to effectively deal with the ensuing challenges.
In addressing the above objectives therefore, the regional training will continue EAPCCO’s objective of combating environmental crimes and ISS dialogue on the relationship between the environment and human security.
OBJECTIVES
The proposed training is therefore aimed at:
- Increasing awareness of the environmental crimes in the region and their link to security.
- Provide an opportunity for experience sharing on environmental crimes related issues among law enforcement officers.
- Foster networking and information sharing among regional law enforcement officers with the aim of harmonizing the implementation of policies and laws in the region.
