ISS Seminar: The Way Forward for Zimbabwe

ISS Seminar: The Way Forward for Zimbabwe
Pretoria, 26 November 2008

Closed event - by invitation only

The past few weeks have witnessed a renewed focus on the crisis in Zimbabwe as the struggle to form a cabinet between the parties to the power-sharing agreement continues. Following what some have called a disappointing resolution on Zimbabwe by the 15 members attending the SADC Summit on 8 November 2008, it appears that the key stakeholders, observers and policymakers are at a loss as to identifying a way out of this political impasse.

The African Security Analysis Programme (ASAP) of the ISS therefore wishes to invite you to a closed seminar to deliberate on possible scenarios out of this political quagmire. Two speakers will reflect critically on the current impasse, providing a basis for discussing the options available to the political leaders of Zimbabwe.

  • Sydney Masamvu, Institute for Democracy in South Africa

  • Judy Smith-Höhn, Institute for Security Studies
