ISS Seminar, Pretoria: Latest Developments in the Relations Between the Republic of the Sudan and the Republic of South Sudan

The recent flare up of conflict between the Republic of Sudan and the Republic of South Sudan, and the military confrontations over Heglig have brought the two countries to the brink. After 6 years of peace under the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) and 7 months as two separate sovereign entities, Juba and Khartoum are almost at war over several disputed regions. This seminar will explore the impact of contesting territorial control of a resource rich area on the future of these two neighbouring countries. An earlier ISS seminar held on 23 April 2012 presented the views from the Republic of South Sudan.
