Liberation movements as governments: Namibia`s Decolonisation Under SWAPO. A Review Since Independence, by Henning Melber

This presentation reflects upon the achievements by and limits to liberation in the fight against (settler) colonialism in Southern African societies in the process of decolonisation with particular reference to the Namibian case. It explores Namibia’s post-colonial realities with the aim to place liberation movements as governments into the context of their natures
and role within social transition and transformation.

Dr Henning Melber is Research Director at The Nordic Africa Institute in Uppsala, Sweden since then. His publications include (as editor and contributor) Limits to Liberation in Southern Africa. The unfinished business of democratic consolidation (Cape Town 2003).
