Speaker: Dr Steven Best, Associate Professor: Department of Humanities and Philosophy,University of Texas, El Paso

Professor Best is a prolific author, dynamic speaker, and noted scholar on topics such as postmodernism, cultural studies, environmentalism and animal rights. He is also known for his defence of the Animal and Earth Liberation Fronts - organisations that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has labelled the top two "domestic-terrorist" threats in the USA. Best has come under fire for taking controversial positions and in 2005 was banned from the UK. His views pose a strong critical challenge to the official discourse on terrorism.
