The workshop aims to bring together approximately twenty researchers, officials and civil society representatives to dialogue on the causes and impact of migration in Southern Africa, to trace the geographical movement of immigrants, to assess the institutional capacity of the various stakeholders mandated to deal with migration, and to identify the security related issues evolving from migration. The ultimate objective is to develop a set of recommendations that can assist in informing policy regarding the implementation of the Facilitation of Movement of Persons Protocol and the development of regional integration at large.
