Cash-in-transit robberies are carried out by well organised criminal groups armed with high-powered automatic rifles. The impact of these violent crimes is far-reaching for victims and business.

Dr Hennie Lochner, a senior lecturer at the University of South Africa and former detective working on cash-in-transit cases, spoke to convicted gangsters about their crimes. This seminar reveals the profile, modus operandi and sophisticated criminal networks that define these heists.

The findings are drawn from Lochner’s recently completed doctoral study on cash-in-transit robberies. They include recommendations on how to prevent and investigate these crimes more effectively. Perspectives from the cash management industry will also be shared.

This seminar is co-hosted with the College of Law, School of Criminal Justice in the Department of Police Practice at the University of South Africa (UNISA).
