Blood on their hands: corruption of justice in South Africa
Major General Booysen and Moeletsi Mbeki discuss the abuse of the criminal justice system.
Despite winning six consecutive high court cases that sought to remove him from his post, Major General Johan Booysen remains suspended and unable to work. A career cop with 41 years’ experience, Booysen is head of the Hawks – South Africa’s special police investigation unit – in KwaZulu Natal province.
He believes he is the victim of a deliberate strategy to neutralise those dedicated to investigating powerful individuals involved in crime and corruption in South Africa. At this seminar, Booysen will discuss his new book written with journalist Jessica Pitchford, Blood on their hands. Well-known political analyst and author Moeletsi Mbeki will be the respondent.
Chair: Dr Johan Burger, consultant, Governance, Crime and Justice, ISS Pretoria

Maj Gen Johan Booysen, suspended Provincial Head of the Hawks in KwaZulu-Natal
