AU reform is needed to guide stable political transitions in Africa

Achieving a stable continent is an AU priority, but requires reform of the Peace and Security Council.

The African Union (AU) needs to show its unwavering commitment to addressing drivers of unconstitutional changes of government, and guide the return to constitutional order in countries facing protracted political transitions. This should be approached through the AU reform agenda, and will require reforming the AU Peace and Security Council to realise the vision of Agenda 2063.

This seminar is one of three events co-hosted by the ISS and the Embassy of Kenya in Addis Ababa, on the margins of the 5th Mid-Year Coordination Meeting of the AU, Regional Economic Communities and Regional Mechanisms from 13-16 July in Nairobi.

The seminar will be conducted in English.
