The Conflict Prevention and Risk Analysis Division (CPRA) of the ISS, together with the International Conference of the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) and Regional Centre on Small Arms in the Great Lakes Region (RECSA) are organising a workshop to reflect on new and strategic ways of promoting peace in the Great Lakes. The workshop focuses on:

  • The regional, national and local dynamics and challenges since the fall of Goma.
  • The Neutral International Force and the ICGLR negotiations in Kampala.
  • The peace, security and cooperation framework agreement on the DRC.
  • Proposing new approaches to promoting peace in the Eastern DRC and devising a new role for the AU.

The workshop will culminate in the issuing of a policy brief.
