On 11 August, Zambians head to the polls in an historic five-ballot election. These elections are the first to be organised under a new electoral legal framework, after the country’s constitution was amended eight months ago.

Zambia is facing its worst economic crisis in more than 10 years. Together with uncertainty about the new election laws, the political contest has never been this fierce.

This View on Africa will be presented by Dimpho Motsamai, a Senior Researcher in the Conflict Prevention and Risk Analysis division. She will discuss what is really at stake as well as possible election outcomes.
