Morocco was recently elected for its first term on the Peace and Security Council (PSC) after rejoining the African Union (AU) in January 2017. Many countries, particularly in Southern Africa, were opposed to Morocco’s re-entry due to the unresolved conflict over the Western Sahara. What role will Morocco play as the council’s newest member?

This View on Africa is presented by Liesl Louw-Vaudran, ISS consultant. She will discuss the effect Morocco’s membership may have on the PSC and how the country can help address Africa’s security challenges.
