The sudden death of the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s long-time opposition leader, Etienne Tshisekedi, has delayed the implementation of the 31 December 2016 political accord. As Tshisekedi’s political coalition scrambles to replace him, squabbles over appointing a new prime minister continue to tear at the fabric of the agreement.

This View on Africa is presented by Stephanie Wolters, Head of the ISS Peace and Security Research Programme. She will discuss the latest developments in the DRC, including the increasing urgency to implement the accord.
